Psalm 6
For the music director, on stringed instruments, upon the eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm by David.
1YHWH, do not rebuke me in your anger,
or discipline me in the heat of your wrath.
2Have mercy on me, YHWH, for I am faint.
YHWH, heal me, for my bones are trembling.
3My soul is utterly shaken.
But you, YHWH—how long?
4Return, YHWH. Deliver my soul,
and save me because of your lovingkindness.
5For in death there is no remembrance of you.
In Sheol, who will give you thanks?
6I am weary from my groaning.
Every night I flood my bed.
and drench my couch with tears.
7My eyes waste away from sorrow.
They grow old because of all my enemies.
8Y’all leave from me, all who practice evil,
for YHWH has heard the sound of my weeping.
9YHWH has heard my begging for favor.
YHWH accepts my prayer.
10May all my enemies be overwhelmed with shame and terror.
They will turn back and suddenly be disgraced.
