Psalm 7
A meditation by David that he sang to YHWH concerning the words of Cush, the Benjamite.
1YHWH, my God, I take refuge in you.
Deliver me from all those who pursue me, and rescue me,
2or they tear apart my soul like a lion,
ripping it in pieces, while there is no one to rescue me.
3YHWH, my God, if I have done this,
if there is injustice on my hands,
4if I have repaid evil to one who was at peace with me
or helped my enemy in vain,
5man an enemy pursue my soul, and overtake me
may he trample my life down to the earth,
and lay my honor in the dust. Selah.
6Rise up, YHWH, in your anger.
Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries.
Wake up for me. You have commanded judgment.
7Let the assembly of peoples surround you.
Return to your place on high over them.
8YHWH judges the peoples.
Vindicate me, YHWH, according to my righteousness and my integrity.
9May the wickedness of the wicked come to an end,
but establish the righteous.
The righteous God searched their minds and hearts.
10My shield is with God,
who saves the upright in heart.
11God is a righteous judge,
a God who expresses wrath every day.
12If a person does not repent, ʜᴇ will sharpen ʜɪꜱ sword;
ʜᴇ has bent and strung ʜɪꜱ bow.
13Hᴇ prepared ʜɪꜱ weapons of death.
Hᴇ makes ready ʜɪꜱ flaming arrows.
14Look, the one who is pregnant with evil,
conceives trouble and gives birth to deception.
15That one digs a pit and hollows it out,
but falls into the pit they made.
16The trouble they cause will return on their own head.
Their violence will come down on the top of their own head.
17I will give thanks to YHWH according to ʜɪꜱ righteousness,
and will sing praise to the name of YHWH Most High.
