The Seventh Seal Opened

Revelation 8

When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. Then I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.

Another angel came and stood over the altar, holding a golden censer. He was given much incense so that he could give it toward the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended from the angel’s hand before God. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with the fire of the altar, and threw it on the earth. There were thunders, sounds, lightning strikes, and an earthquake.

Seven Angels with Seven Trumpets

The seven angels holding the seven trumpets prepared themselves to trumpet.

The first trumpeted, and there was hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was thrown to the earth. One third of the earth was burned down, and one third of the trees were burned down, and all the green grass was burned down.

The second angel trumpeted, and something like a great mountain of fire was thrown into the sea. One third of the sea became blood, and one third of the creatures in the sea that had souls died. One third of the ships were destroyed.

The third angel trumpeted, and a great star fell from the sky, burning like a torch, and it fell on one third of the rivers, and on the springs of water. The name of the star is called “Wormwood.” One third of the waters became wormwood. Many humans died from the waters, because they had been made bitter.

The fourth angel trumpeted, and one third of the sun was struck, and one third of the moon, and one third of the stars, so that one third of them were darkened. The day wouldn’t shine for one third of it, and the night was the same. I looked, and I heard one eagle, flying in midheaven, saying with a loud sound, “Woe! Woe! Woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the other sounds of the trumpets of the three angels, who are about to trumpet!”
