The River and the Tree of Life
Revelation 22He showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb, down the middle of its street. On each side of the river was the tree of life, making twelve kinds of fruits, yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the ethnic groups. There will no longer be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his slaves will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will no longer be night, and they have no need for lamp light or sun light, because the Lord God will shine on them. They will reign for ever and ever.
John Before the Angel
He said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent ʜɪꜱ angel to show to ʜɪꜱ slaves the things which must happen soon.
“Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who had been showing me these things. He said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow slave with you and with your siblings, the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this scroll. You must worship God.” He said to me, “Don’t seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, for the time is near. Let the one who acts unjustly, continue acting unjustly. Let the one who is filthy, stay filthy. Let the one who is righteous, do righteousness still. Let the one who is holy, be holy still.”
Final Invitation and Warning
“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me to repay each person according to their deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, the magic drug users, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give this testimony to y’all for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the Bright Morning Star.”
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come. Let the one who desires take the water of life freely.
I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: if anyone adds to them, God will add to that person the plagues that are written in this scroll. If anyone takes away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take away their share from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this scroll. The one who testifies these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen! Yes, come, Lord Jesus!
