The Two Witnesses

Revelation 11

A reed like a rod was given to me, and someone said, “Get up and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and those who worship in it. Exclude the court outside of the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the ethnic groups. They will trample on the holy city for forty-two months. I will give to my two witnesses to prophesy one thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands, standing before the Lord of the earth. If anyone who wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. Anyone who wants to harm them must be killed in this way. They have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophecy. They hold power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every plague as often as they want.

When they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends from the abyss will make war with them, conquer them, and kill them. Their corpses will be in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. Some from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and ethnic groups will look upon their corpses for three and a half days, but will not send away the corpses to be laid in a tomb. The earth dwellers will rejoice over them, and they will be glad. They will give gifts to one another, because the two prophets tortured the earth dwellers.

After the three and a half days, the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood on their feet. Massive fear fell on those who watched them. I heard a loud sound from heaven saying to them, “Y’all come up here!” They went up into heaven in a cloud while their enemies watched them. In that very hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake, seven thousand humans were killed, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

The second woe has passed. Look, the third woe is coming soon.

The Seventh Trumpet

The seventh angel trumpeted, and great sounds in heaven followed, saying,

“The empire of the world has become the empire of our Lord and of his Christ. He will reign for ever and ever!”

The twenty-four elders, who are seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying:

“We give you thanks, Lord God Almighty, the one who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and begun to reign. The ethnic groups were enraged, and your rage came, The time has come for the dead to be judged, and to give the reward to your slaves the prophets, and to the saints and those who fear your name, to the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”

Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of the Lord’s covenant was seen in ʜɪꜱ temple. There was lightning, sounds, thunder, an earthquake, and great hailstorm.
