The Wisdom of God in the Spirit

1 Corinthians 2

When I came to y’all, siblings, I didn’t come with eloquent speech or wisdom, as I proclaimed to y’all the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among y’all except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I was with y’all in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. My words and my preaching were not persuasive words of human wisdom, but a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that y’all’s faith wouldn’t rest in human wisdom, but in the power of God.

We speak wisdom, however, among those who are mature, a wisdom not of this world nor of the rulers of this world who are coming to nothing. Instead, we speak God’s wisdom, which had been hidden in a mystery and that God foreordained for our glory before all time. None of the rulers of this world understood. For if they had understood, they wouldn’t have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written,

“Things which no eye has seen, and no ear has heard, and which didn’t enter into the human heart, these things God has prepared for those who love him.”+Isa 64:4

But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows what is inside a human except the spirit of that human. Even so, no human knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now what we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God. The things we say are not in words taught by human wisdom, but what is taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things with those who are spiritual. Now the natural human doesn’t accept the things of the Spirit of God. They are foolishness to the natural person who can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But the spiritual person discerns all things, yet is to be judged by no one. “For who has known the mind of the Lord [YHWH] that he should instruct him?” +Isa 40:13 But we have Christ’s mind.
